Dallas Auto Glass Repair Demand Surges After Spring Hail Season

DALLAS — Local auto glass repair shops are experiencing unprecedented demand following a particularly severe spring hail season that battered the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, leaving thousands of vehicles with damaged windshields and windows.

The Texas Department of Insurance reports that hail damage claims across Dallas County have increased by 340% compared to the same period last year, with the majority involving automotive glass repairs. The surge began after a series of severe thunderstorms swept through North Texas in April and May, with some areas reporting hail stones larger than golf balls.

"The phones haven't stopped ringing since those storms hit," explained James Thompson, operations manager at a repair facility near the intersection of Central Expressway and Forest Lane. "We're seeing everything from minor chips to completely shattered windshields. Some vehicles look like they went through a war zone."

The Dallas Police Department has issued safety reminders for drivers with damaged windshields, emphasizing that severely compromised glass can result in traffic citations and poses significant safety risks.
